About you as an author:

Tell us about your books/series.3D- US Bookcover

My series is called Unforeseen Secrets and it follows to best friends as they both try and put their lives back together in some way and along the way they happen to find love. But sometimes not everyone gets their happily ever after.

What genre(s) do you write in?

Romance, suspense. I am trying to get into paranormal romance as well and have a few ideas bouncing around in my head.

Are any of your books your favorite?

I would have to say Resurrected Secrets Book one in the Unforeseen Secrets Series is my favorite because it gave me my start as writer.

Where do you get your inspiration from? How do you come up with your characters and stories?

A dream came up with my first book and the others just kind of came to me I guess you could say. I get inspiration from reading A LOT!

Are there any characters you love more than others? Why?

Again I would have to say my characters from the Unforeseen Secrets Series because they are my start, my babies.

Any characters you hate? Why?

Timothy from Book 2 and 3 in the Unforeseen Secrets Series. Read them and you will see why.

If you needed help, which one of your characters would you call? Why?

Oliva and Willow from Surviving This Life. Those chicks are badass!

Are there any pieces of you in your books?

Yes. Sandra in the Unforeseen Secrets Series has my attitude and one of my WIPs is actually loosely based off a relationship I had when I was younger.

Which of your books would you recommend to a new reader?

Resurrected Secrets because it has it all, love loss, friendship, action and new beginnings.

Why and when did you start writing?

Early August 2015, because I had a dream and thought it would be a good book.

What’s the most difficult part of being a writer?

For me it is always second guessing myself and not believing what I write is good, even though I have several people who think otherwise.

What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

Getting to make up a new world and new people and relationships.

How do you handle criticism…constructive or otherwise?

I know this is going to make me sound like a big baby but I cry. With good and bad reviews. I get emotional about my work. But I always take what I am told about my books and strive to make them better.

What’s the best advice you’ve received as an author?

Not everyone will like every book and that’s okay.

Do you have any quirky writing habits?

I listen to detective shows on the IQ channel while I write.

How do you handle writer’s block?

I step away from the book and come back to it later and re-read what I already have written and usually new ideas come to me as I re-read my work.

What’s your go-to book blog?

I have a lot. I have found several blogs that took the chance on posting a book by an unknown like me and they do it faithfully. I don’ want to name names in case I forget one. But know if you are a blogger and have ever posted my work I am talking about YOU! Thank you!!!

What is one thing you want people to know about you as an author?

I love chatting with “Fans” (how weird is it calling them that? lol) I don’t want to be just known as a romance author I want to do it all and eventually I will! J

Do you have a current WIP, upcoming release, or other exciting book news you’d like to talk about?

I have my Unforeseen Secrets Series re-releasing soon so keep an eye out for them. I also have 2 WIPs that I am working on now both are romance. One is YA Romance. I also have a Newsletter now that I am excited about! You can sign up for it here:

About you as a person:

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I work a weekend job and I love blogging and reading! I also have 3 kids so they keep me pretty busy as well!

Favorite thing about your hometown?

It’s a small place where everyone knows everyone. I love the country feel to it and love the fact that if I wanted to go to the dollar store in my PJs no one would give me a second glance because they are probably in theirs too J lol

Farthest place you’ve traveled from home?

First and only place I have ever been outside of Alabama is Tennessee.

Favorite…Food? Color? Place? Movie? TV show? Song? Band? Etc…

Food would be Mexican! Yum Color is pink! Place would be the beach even though I have never been L Movie would be My Sister’s Keeper. TV Show? Boy I have a few. Grey’s Anatomy, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, The Fosters, The Walking Dead and Switched At Birth. My favorite song currently is (And don’t judge me for this lol) Love Yourself by Justin Bieber.

Any weird collections?

Anything Zombie!

Strange habits?

I am kind of OCD about things so idk if it is strange but when I clean my house I can’t spray any air freshener until after all the sweeping, mopping, dusting or anything of that sort is done.

What is something you’d like the book community to know about you as a person?

I am out spoken and usually say the first thing that comes to my mind. I am sarcastic, funny, and friendly.

Unforeseen Secrets Boxset cover

Secrets Of A Shattered Heart Excerpt:

“The Bridal March” starts, and all heads turn to see Mandy walk out of the back door of the house and down the red, silk runway aisle. She is stunning in her sweetheart neck line dress. Her hair cascades down her back in long spiral curls. The sunlight dances off of her sparkling, silver tiara making a mini array of rainbows skip ahead of her on the aisle. Her bouquet of white and red roses snugged tight in her hands.

“Ladies and gentleman, we are gathered here today to witness the magical union of these two beautiful souls,” the minister starts as soon as Mandy steps up beside Josh and takes his hand in hers. “They have made their own vows so, Joshua, when you are ready, you can start.”

Josh clears his throat. “Mandy, the day I first met you I had no idea you would change my life the way you did. You not only excepted the man I am, but you embraced the man I used to be. Although I’m no longer that man, you helped me open my eyes and forgive not only my father but most importantly myself. You brought happiness back into my life in more ways than just one.” He looks down at Emma in his arms before continuing. “And you showed me that no matter what, love does conquer all. I remember when I first asked you to be my girl, I asked you if we could be each other’s happy for a while. Well, now, I am asking you if we can be each other’s happy forever.”

Author Bio:

Let me tell you a about myself…. I am a true southern belle. I like my sweet tea and I like blessing hearts. I was born and raised in a one stop light town in North Alabama. As a child I was a bit of a tomboy. I loved riding bikes and playing basketball and volley ball. I have 2 younger sisters and although I never had a brother my older cousin was the closest thing to that than anyone.

As a teen I loved to read. My favorite author was Lurlene McDaniel, I loved and still love all of her books. I think I have made it through all of them by now. Lol although I have added several authors to my favorites list I still enjoy her writing style. But she isn’t the reason I became an author. That is all my cousin LeAmbra’s fault. Y’all may know her better as Author Salice Rodgers. I had a dream one night about an unplanned and secrets filled relationship between a broken women and even more broken man and I asked Amber to write a book about it. She refused and said she wouldn’t write my story that I should. So that’s how Resurrected Secrets was born and Author N. Nieto J

These days I spend my time chasing kids and cleaning house. I somehow find time to read and write in the middle of all of that. I always say as long as one person likes my stories then it is worth it in the end for me.
