Author Interview – MS Murray

I met MS Murray through a mutual acquaintance in a little readers group called Readers of the Hidden Trove. Check it out on Facebook, if you’re not already a member. We’ve chatted via Skype a few times and I gotta say, I love her accent! I look forward to introducing you to her here in this interview!! Oh…and get this…her hometown has a castle! A castle, people!

About MS Murray, the authorMichelle1

Tell us about your bo
oks/series, feel free to include links!

At the moment I have only two books out. One is a standalone and the other is part of a series of books called CASSIE. The standalone is called Silver Bells, Curses and Spells and Spells that was co-written with the fabulous K.M. Thompson. The book is based in New Orleans and is about a witch who has no luck with anything she casts. She’s a bit of a hot mess when it comes to spells. She ends up accidently causing it to snow in New Orleans making for a white Christmas that’s only a few weeks away. Eryx Castille is the asshole tycoon that wants to knock down the block she lives and works in and so she tries everything to deter him. Of course in her anger she turns to her spells to help and ends up cursing them both. They’ve both been given a tough lot in life and start to thaw a little toward each other. But first they need to get though the curse.

My other book CASSIE Black Sand was released in February this year and follows Cassiella Iron. Cassie comes from a long line of Hunters, a secret organization of people who keep the supernatural in order. Cassie ends up in a magical accident when she turns eighteen and for her, that’s the final straw. She doesn’t want to follow in her mother and father’s footsteps. All she wants is a normal nine to five doing something mundane and ordinary. On the day she graduates she’s moving from her family mansion into the guest house and on her last trip to the main house, it explodes, with her parents and little sister inside. She soon discovers that her parents were inside but that Jess her sister has been taken. From there Cassie dons her Hunter training like a glove and goes on the hunt for her sister and answers. She seeks out Vampire Lord Gabriel when the car she’s tracking leads into his territory. Together they search for Jess, but Cassie is suspicious of Gabriel. Why is he helping her and asking nothing in return?

The CASSIE series will have six books in total. In May I finished the second book CASSIE Blood Ties and just last week started writing CASSIE Bloodlines.

What genre(s) do you write in?

I don’t specifically write in any one particular genre. I’m more of a free spirit writer or as I like to call it a fart in the wind writer. I go wherever it takes me. My favorite genre to write in is fantasy. I love making up everything in the story, imagining something completely new. I have roughly at this moment in time ten books that I’ve started writing and in various genres. In my projects file I have a contemporary standalone, a contemporary romance series, a fairytale contemporary series, a dystopian series and a werewolf/shifter romance series to mention a few lol. Just a few. I know some writers pick one genre and stick to that, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, I’m personally just not like that. I’m too random of a person to not write in a variety of genres.

Are any of your books your favorite?

That’s a tough one. I can’t say that I prefer one to the other. They’re so different and I love them for different reasons.

Where do you get your inspiration from? How do you come up with your characters and stories?

This happens in a variety of ways. As I’ve said, I’m a pretty random person. Sometimes I have a dream about a story and when I wake up I instantly write it down so I don’t forget. Other times I’ll hit me like a shovel to the face. I’ll be talking to someone, watching something or cleaning and it’ll hit me. I sometimes get inspiration from TV or other books I read. I don’t steal other writer’s ideas or anything, just sometimes I’ll read something and the shovel strikes again.

Are there any characters you love more than others? Why?

There are. I can’t say too much but the second book in the CASSIE has some new characters who I love to pieces. Cassie, Gabriel and Andrea are probably my favorite. Cassie’s kinda feisty. She’s got an inner strength I completely admire and she’s a bit of a badass. Gabriel is a bit of an arse, but there’s more to him than that. I always write a little piece of myself in my characters and Gabriel represents the quiet part of me. The internalizer. As for Andrea, well she’s a little clumsy and a lot feisty too. I can totally relate to her when she does something stupid. I do silly things all the time then wish I could use the Idea Shovel to bury myself.

Any characters you hate? Why?

Ishtar. I definitely hate her. She’s a power hungry Hunter in the Cassie series. In the first book there’s only a little about her but the second book you get to know a little more. I’ll leave it like that because I can’t give too much away. Mwahahaha!!

If you had a bad day, which one of your characters would you reach out to for support?

Gabriel. I know a bit strange given he’s an arse and well an arse. But most of the time if I’m having a bad day I just really want someone to listen. I don’t need someone to tell me everything will be okay because sometimes it won’t. Gabriel wouldn’t bullshit me.

Are there any pieces of you in your books?

All of them. I can’t help but write myself in there. As I said before my character have some of my characteristics. They’re not me but they’re little pieces of me.

Which of your books would you recommend to a new reader?

Honestly I’m not sure. I think I’d say Silver Bells, Curses and Spells, more because it’s a standalone. I think if I recommended my CASSIE series they might not want to commit to a full series, especially if they’re new to reading.

Why and when did you start writing?

I started writing as a hobby. I fell in love with reading when I was roughly twenty-three. From there I got this idea for a story and started writing little bits and pieces. I honestly had no intention of writing a book, but the more I got into it the more I wrote. My step-dad passed away within two weeks of being told his cancer had returned after being given the all clear. I think when you lose someone you start to re-evaluate your own life. At the time I was a stay at home mum and had been for roughly eight years. I was a young mum and so my life had been bringing up my children. Something that I had chosen. When they went away to school I was a little at a loss on what to do with myself. That’s when the reading stared which eventually lead to my hobby. After Frank passed I put all my writing together and sent it off to an editor who encouraged me to keep going. I had the support of my family and friends but it was her encouragement that made me say, ‘this is it. This is my thing.’

What’s the most difficult part of being a writer?

God, there are so many. Time and juggling kids, house and husband every day. Keeping to my deadlines. Research and keeping up with social media. I could go on haha.

What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

The End. It’s so satisfying finishing a book. I can’t even begin to describe the high I get when I write those two little words. I also love when major parts of my story come together or I write I plot twist. I love those parts. When I write a plot twist I laugh an evil laugh and rub my hands together.

How do you handle criticism…constructive or otherwise?

Oh I love constructive criticism. The way I look at it is, I don’t always see what’s wrong with my book. Sometimes it takes another pair of eyes to find it and says Michelle your book sucks then point’s out the sucky parts. I encourage my Betas to be as harsh as possible. How do I expect my books to do well if the material is awful and unreadable? I haven’t had any bad reviews yet but I know there yet to come. I know myself they’ll hurt but the beauty of a book is always in the eye of the beholder. What one readers loves another wont. It’s just how it goes.

Do you have any quirky writing habits?

I have many haha. When I’m writing an MS I put on a movie in the background. I then proceed to watch the movie on repeat until I’ve finished what I’m writing whether that be a chapter I need to finish or the entire book. When I was writing CASSIE Blood Ties my second book in the CASSIE series, I watched Jurassic World all day every day for two weeks. I find that when I’m in the ‘zone’ that I need background noise and when it’s repeated then I can keep my focus a lot better. During the making of one of my books I watch on average three – four movies, depending on what I’m writing and where I am in the story. That’s just one of them though. I have loads more.

How do you handle writer’s block?

Oh man!! I have a few different ways. One: dance. I fling on some tunes and dance like no one is watching, which I hope no one is, and dance it out. Sometimes it works just to focus on something else. Two: I read. Sometimes I just need to chill and not try to push the story too hard. Three: I talk to Kayla when I have writer’s block. Sometimes talking to someone can help me climb the wall blocking my creative juices. Four: Take a step away. There are times when none of this works and I have to take a breather. A few days where I do nothing in conjunction to writing. I don’t think there’s any right way to deal with it, I think what works for one writer won’t work for another.

Do you have a go-to book blog?

Not yet. It is on my to do list. Find a good book blog, right along with the other hundred things I’ve got to do. Any recommendations?

What is one thing you want people to know about you as an author?

I’m definitely as crazy as you think I am and I talk sooooo much. Jennifer can attest to that.

Do you have a current WIP, upcoming release, or other exciting book news you’d like to talk about?

I have a few projects I’m really excited about. The first would be that CASSIE Blood Ties will hopefully be released in the next few months. I don’t have a date as I’m waiting for my editor to get back to me. There is also a secret project I’m working on with the amazing Kayla Smith, but I can’t say too much about it at the moment.

About MS Murray, the person:

What do you do when you’re not writing?

When I’m not writing I spend time with my husband and kids. When we’ve got nothing planned I tend to read or buy stickers. I’m in love with my planner and buy too many stickers for it.

Favorite thing about your hometown?

Oh there’s lots I love about where I live. My favorite thing is probably the Castle. We have a Castle that sits on a hill in the middle of our village and it’s pretty awesome. There’s a lot of history here.

Farthest place you’ve traveled from home?

Switzerland. We travelled there with the school and oh, my, god, it was breathtaking. Honestly amazing. I’d love to go back one day.

Favorite…Food? Color? Place? Movie? TV show? Song? Band? Etc…

I don’t have a favorite color. I think the fact that we even have color is amazing. They’re all so pretty. As for food, man that’s even tougher. I love chocolate, pizza, pasta, Tyrells crisps, steak, all kinds of BBQ food – especially if it’s pork, haggis, food…there’s too much amazing-ness to choose from. At the moment my favorite movie is Jurassic World. Gotta love some dinosaurs and a bit of Chris Pratt. As for TV shows, at the moment I’m loving Wayward Pines. Holy crap, I didn’t see that plot twist coming. I had to pause the TV and freak out for a second. But overall I love Supernatural.

Any weird collections?

I haven’t got any weird collections recently, but in my loft (attic) I have roughly three boxes filled with porcelain dolls that I started to collect when I was roughly nine. They’re so pretty but they freak my husband out. Maybe I’ll bring them down for Halloween, wait till he’s asleep then place them all around the room. Pretend to sleep myself then wait for the girly screams. Yes, I’m evil. I know.

Strange habits?

Yes, I can’t have space between my husband’s pillow and mine. I know when there’s a gap and instantly wake up and fix it. It’s weird I know.

What is something you’d like the book community to know about you as a person?

I love you guys. Which means I love myself too cause I’m part of the book community lol. Without your support over the past few years I wouldn’t be here today. I greatly appreciate every single one of you!!

Anything else you’d like to add?

Don’t be afraid to reach for your dreams. Nothing in this life comes easy, not a thing worth having anyway. You gotta work hard to reach them. Don’t give up, your stronger than you think you are!!

Blogger Interview – Jackie from Bookworm Mom!

About Jackie, the reader/bloggerInterview_Blogger_Jackie2

What’s the name of your blog? Links?

My blog is called Bookworm Mom.

The link to my blog site is http://bookworm-mom.blogspot.com

The link to my blog’s Facebook page is http://facebook.com/bookwormmomblog

Is it just you running the show, or do you have help?

It’s just me.  🙂

Tell us a little about the things you post on your blog.

I post reviews, spotlight type posts, cover reveals, book tours, release blitzes, excerpt reveals, and things like that.  I have also recently started to participate in a couple weekly features, so I’m excited about getting some new content posted to the blog.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your blog?

It’s just a little piece of me where I post about the books that I love.

What’s your most favorite thing about blogging?

Definitely meeting new authors, discovering new books, and making new book friends!

Least favorite?

I can’t say that I really have a least favorite thing about blogging.  I love it all.

Favorite swag to receive or to giveaway?

I love to receive any kind of swag, especially bookmarks, pens, and lip balm.  I haven’t gotten to the point where I’ve been able to give any swag away, but I’d love to be able to do that someday.

Most prized book possession?

Definitely my signed books.  I will always cherish those.

What is the absolute best moment you’ve had as a blogger?

I think any time I’m able to form a relationship with an author is pretty special.  There are some that I really feel like I’ve gotten to know and can call a friend.

What is your favorite genre or sub-genre and why?

I love to read romance books, specifically NA, YA, and contemporary.  I also enjoy romantic suspense and romantic comedy.  I just love the feeling of watching these characters who seem so real to you fall in love and start their life together.

Have you ever read a book that completely destroyed you?

Yes!  Stay by B.A. Wolfe completely wrecked me.  There was a part of the book where I actually had to put my Kindle down and I broke down sobbing.  It was a straight up ugly cry moment.  My husband was sitting in the chair across from me and he looked at me like I was crazy once he realized I was crying over the book.  LOL!

Have you ever not been able to finish a book? What did you do? How did it make you feel?

There have been a few times recently when I’ve been unable to finish the book.  I just set it aside and move on to a different one.  I feel bad when I’m unable to finish a book, but I keep telling myself it’s okay because you’re not going to like every single book you pick up.

Interview_Blogger_Jackie2About Jackie, the person:

Favorite hobby (aside from reading and blogging)?

I really enjoy photography.

Favorite thing about your hometown?

There is always something to do here.

Farthest place you’ve traveled from home?

Our chorus class in high school traveled to a competition up in Pennsylvania.  (I’m in North Carolina)

Favorite…Food? Color? Place? Movie? TV show? Song? Band? Etc…

Food:  Pizza!

Color:  Blue and Pink

Place:  any kind of book store 😉

Movie:  How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

TV Show:  (Ohh, this may be a long list. I can’t list just one LOL!)  Grey’s Anatomy, The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time, General Hospital, Friends, King of Queens

Any weird collections?

Nope.

Strange habits?

Not that I can think of.

What is something you’d like the book community to know about you as a person?

I’m a very shy but fun and loyal person and I love making new friends so feel free to reach out to me!  🙂

Any final parting words?

Thanks for interviewing me!  I had fun sharing about myself and my blog.  🙂

Author Interview – Lashell Collins

I met Lashell Collins a while back during a takeover where I actually won (YAY!) her Jagged Ivory boxed set. I devoured that series, and I mean DEVOURED! If you love rock star romance, you’ll want to get your paws on it. It was amazing. I think I nagged her for more Jagged Ivory a few times after completing the series. Maybe…definitely. Ok! So Lashell and I are in a couple rock star related groups together…Rock Star VIPs and Rockstars Among Us Book Club. You can also find her at the links at the bottom of the page. With no further ado, here’s my interview with Lashell Collins!

SANYO DIGITAL CAMERAAbout Lashell Collins, the author:

What genre(s) do you write in?

I write Rockstar Romance, Shifter (PNR) Romance, and Romantic Suspense.

Are any of your books your favorite?

Yes. Whatever book I happen to be working on at the time is usually my favorite. That said, I am working on something right now that is very close to my heart, so I’m sure it will end up being my favorite, for many reasons.

Where do you get your inspiration from? How do you come up with your characters and stories?

Honestly, I really don’t know where the ideas come from. I daydream A LOT, so that’s probably the main way. Also random conversations with my husband, who’s a retired police officer.

Are there any characters you love more than others? Why?

Not really. I love all of my characters so much, even the bad guys.

If one of your characters called you in the middle of the nighKFamPromo-2 copyt for you to bail them out of jail…which one would it be? Why?

Ok, I want to say it would probably be cousins, Storm and Payne Kelly, and they would most likely have been arrested for starting a bar fight or something like that. Only, Storm and Payne are both police officers themselves, so…!

That is absolutely hilarious! Now I need to read those books and meet these guys!
Are there any pieces of you in your books?

Yes. There’s probably a little piece of me in each one of my heroines.

Which of your books would you recommend to someone who hasn’t read your books before?

I always hate this question because I write in three very different genres. So it really just depends on what your poison is.

Why and when did you start writing?

I’ve always loved to write, and I’ve been making up stories since about middle school, I guess. But I started writing seriously back in 2009. I had lost several people close to me, and I started writing in my grief. I found it to be very therapeutic, and I just kept going.

What’s the most difficult part of being a writer?

Marketing. I am so bad at the marketing side of things, and I find that if you don’t set up some kind of boundaries or a schedule and make yourself stick to it, the marketing will take over and choke out all of your writing time.

What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

Typing THE END.

What’s the best advice you’ve received as an author?

Write the next book. Write, release, repeat.

Do you have any quirky writing habits?

I don’t think so.

How do you handle writer’s block?

I’ve been very fortunate in that I don’t really get writer’s block. I’m a major plotter, which means that I typically plot out an entire story from start to finish before I write a single word. And my plot outlines get very, very detailed, like even down to conversations. I basically map out the entire story. So, once I have a completed plot outline, writer’s block just doesn’t exist for me.

Do you have a go-to book blog?

No.

What is one thing you want people to know about you as an author?

I would want readers to know that they are always going to get a happily-ever-after from me. That’s something you can count on when you sit down to read a Lashell Collins story, no matter which genre it is.

Do you have a current WIP, upcoming release, or other exciting book news you’d like to talk about?

At the moment, I’m working on 5 different projects. All are in various stages of development. There are 2 that I’m actually writing as we speak, 1 that is about to begin edits, 1 that is all plotted out and waiting to be written, and 1 that is being plotted. It seems I don’t really know how to just do one thing at a time.

About Lashell Collins, the person:

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be many things when I was little – most of which I can’t really remember, but I do remember that I went through this phase where I wanted a dog so badly (and wasn’t allowed to have one) that I used to pretend I was a dog.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I have a pretty stressful home life at the moment, so when I’m not writing it’s all about finding a little “me” time, and doing things to de-stress. I listen to music, or I watch videos of concerts on YouTube. I watch TV. I read.

Favorite thing about your hometown?

I don’t really have a favorite thing about my hometown. It’s small and uninteresting in my opinion. That’s not to say I don’t like my hometown, because I do.

Farthest place you’ve traveled from home?

Farthest place was probably Panama City, Panama. Central America.

Favorite…Food? Color? Place? Movie? TV show? Song? Band? Etc…

Favorite food – Chinese.
Favorite color – Brown.
Favorite place – Vermilion, OH.
Favorite movie – Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, The Princess Bride, Legally Blonde.
Favorite TV show – Grimm, General Hospital, Grey’s Anatomy, Gilmore Girls.
(Weird side-note: Why do they all start with the letter G?)
Favorite song – Oh, my God, WAY too many to name.
Favorite band – Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators.

Any weird collections?

Not weird to me – I have a growing collection of Todd Kerns memorabilia. I have Michael Jackson album covers in frames hanging on my bedroom wall. I have a small but growing collection of guitar pics from different musicians. Hmm. I’m sensing a theme…

Any strange habits?

I will not eat deformed food. Like an M&M that’s shaped weird, or a sandwich cookie (an Oreo for example) where one of the cookie sides is turned the wrong way. Stuff like that.

What genre(s) do you write in?

I write contemporary romance; specifically small town, sweet and sexy (Sensations Collection), rock star romance (The Legendary Rock Star series) and my latest, MMA (Paradise Stories).

Are any of your books your favorite?

My first love is always going to be my first book, Sound Advice, but I love The Legend of Arturo King. It was one of those stories that was pure fun to write.

Where do you get your inspiration from? How do you come up with your characters and stories?

I’m a teacher and each year I teach lessons about King Arthur. One day I was driving home and I thought: “If King Arthur lived today, he’d be a rock star.” Boom! An idea was born.

My Paradise Stories were born on a trip to Hawaii. Two brothers who are fated to fight each other, each striving to find love in their life.

Are there any characters you love more than others? Why?

Tristan Lyons is still one of my favorites (The Truth of Tristan Lyons), but I love Jess Carter (Sound Advice) and Perkins Vale (The Quest of Perkins Vale). Tristan and Perkins I love because the historical tales of Tristan and Percival are two of my favorites. Jess Carter is just because we always remember our first fictional love, especially when we write him.

Any characters you hate? Why?

I can’t say I “hate” him, but Lansing Lotte was the hardest character for me to write. It’s difficult story to make a love triangle that you don’t want to be a love triangle. Staying true to the history of the Arturo-Guinie-Lansing saga, I had to though. Then I had to give him a HEA after all.

You’re broken down on the side of the road, which one of your characters would you call? Why?

Jess Carter or Leon Ramirez – they are handy men.

Are there any pieces of you in your books?

Oh gosh yes, especially in Fragrance Free. Pam Carter is very, very much like me. Hard working woman who was a bit lost in my twenties.

Which of your books would you recommend to a new reader?

I always recommend Sound Advice if you like sweeter stories. Arturo King and the upcoming Paradise Found: Cain are for those that like it edgier.

Why and when did you start writing?

It’s a long story, but the short version is in 2013 I had my third “sign” that Sound Advice needed to be published. I didn’t have the patience for a traditional publisher, especially after rejection from 35 of them, so I went the indie route, and I love it!

What’s the most difficult part of being a writer?

Self promotion has to be the hardest part of being a writer. It’s unforeseen and difficult when it’s just you and a few loyal fans. I didn’t predict how hard it would be to market, market, market.

What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

Writing!! I just love creating a new character, a new little world to live in and lives I’ll never live.

How do you handle criticism…constructive or otherwise?

If it’s constructive, I’m very, very reflective. If it’s otherwise, like a review that’s insulting and makes no sense, I laugh. When it’s rejection, I’m not good with that at all.

What’s the best advice you’ve received as an author?

Most advice I receive has been so conflicting over the years that I find the best advice is stay true to you – who you want to be as an author and what you want your books to represent.

Do you have any quirky writing habits?

I’m not much of a planner. I’m more a dreamer. I write it as it comes to me.

How do you handle writer’s block?

Knock on wood…I don’t really have it. Overactive imagination and all.

Do you have a current WIP, upcoming release, or other exciting book news you’d like to talk about?

YES to WIP. YES to upcoming release – June 6, 2016 – Paradise Found: Cain, and YES to other news…just lots more stories to tell.

About LB Dunbar, the person:

What did you want to be when you grew up?

  1. Mother 2. Teacher 3. Writer — in that order and accomplished

What do you do when you’re not writing?

  1. Mother 2. Teacher 3. Wife

Favorite thing about your hometown?

Well, my hometown is small and I don’t have a favorite thing, but I’ve lived in Chicago longer than my hometown and I love the neighborhood feel inside a large city with lots to do.

Farthest place you’ve traveled from home?

London, England or Rome, Italy – not certain which one is farther.

Favorite…Food? Color? Place? Movie? TV show? Song? Band? Etc…

Food: spaghetti

Color: periwinkle/lilac

Place: Virginia Beach, Virginia

Movie: none

TV Show: Outlander — #outlanderobsession

Song: too many to list

Band: Snow Patrol was the inspiration for The Nights, so I’ll say them.

What is something you’d like the book community to know about you as a person?

I’m rather sensitive. Too sensitive, I’m sure, and it isn’t easy to grow a thick skin like some people say. It’s hard to put yourself out there and I just wish that everyone treated each other with respect and professionalism. I try to do that, why not do it in return? Ninety-nine percent of people do, but the one-percenters can drag you down, and make you cry (see – sensitive). I want everyone to be successful, and get along with one another, and that makes me naive to the whole process.

About you as an author:

Tell us about your books/series.3D- US Bookcover

My series is called Unforeseen Secrets and it follows to best friends as they both try and put their lives back together in some way and along the way they happen to find love. But sometimes not everyone gets their happily ever after.

What genre(s) do you write in?

Romance, suspense. I am trying to get into paranormal romance as well and have a few ideas bouncing around in my head.

Are any of your books your favorite?

I would have to say Resurrected Secrets Book one in the Unforeseen Secrets Series is my favorite because it gave me my start as writer.

Where do you get your inspiration from? How do you come up with your characters and stories?

A dream came up with my first book and the others just kind of came to me I guess you could say. I get inspiration from reading A LOT!

Are there any characters you love more than others? Why?

Again I would have to say my characters from the Unforeseen Secrets Series because they are my start, my babies.

Any characters you hate? Why?

Timothy from Book 2 and 3 in the Unforeseen Secrets Series. Read them and you will see why.

If you needed help, which one of your characters would you call? Why?

Oliva and Willow from Surviving This Life. Those chicks are badass!

Are there any pieces of you in your books?

Yes. Sandra in the Unforeseen Secrets Series has my attitude and one of my WIPs is actually loosely based off a relationship I had when I was younger.

Which of your books would you recommend to a new reader?

Resurrected Secrets because it has it all, love loss, friendship, action and new beginnings.

Why and when did you start writing?

Early August 2015, because I had a dream and thought it would be a good book.

What’s the most difficult part of being a writer?

For me it is always second guessing myself and not believing what I write is good, even though I have several people who think otherwise.

What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

Getting to make up a new world and new people and relationships.

How do you handle criticism…constructive or otherwise?

I know this is going to make me sound like a big baby but I cry. With good and bad reviews. I get emotional about my work. But I always take what I am told about my books and strive to make them better.

What’s the best advice you’ve received as an author?

Not everyone will like every book and that’s okay.

Do you have any quirky writing habits?

I listen to detective shows on the IQ channel while I write.

How do you handle writer’s block?

I step away from the book and come back to it later and re-read what I already have written and usually new ideas come to me as I re-read my work.

What’s your go-to book blog?

I have a lot. I have found several blogs that took the chance on posting a book by an unknown like me and they do it faithfully. I don’ want to name names in case I forget one. But know if you are a blogger and have ever posted my work I am talking about YOU! Thank you!!!

What is one thing you want people to know about you as an author?

I love chatting with “Fans” (how weird is it calling them that? lol) I don’t want to be just known as a romance author I want to do it all and eventually I will! J

Do you have a current WIP, upcoming release, or other exciting book news you’d like to talk about?

I have my Unforeseen Secrets Series re-releasing soon so keep an eye out for them. I also have 2 WIPs that I am working on now both are romance. One is YA Romance. I also have a Newsletter now that I am excited about! You can sign up for it here: http://eepurl.com/bRhk3f

About you as a person:

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I work a weekend job and I love blogging and reading! I also have 3 kids so they keep me pretty busy as well!

Favorite thing about your hometown?

It’s a small place where everyone knows everyone. I love the country feel to it and love the fact that if I wanted to go to the dollar store in my PJs no one would give me a second glance because they are probably in theirs too J lol

Farthest place you’ve traveled from home?

First and only place I have ever been outside of Alabama is Tennessee.

Favorite…Food? Color? Place? Movie? TV show? Song? Band? Etc…

Food would be Mexican! Yum Color is pink! Place would be the beach even though I have never been L Movie would be My Sister’s Keeper. TV Show? Boy I have a few. Grey’s Anatomy, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, The Fosters, The Walking Dead and Switched At Birth. My favorite song currently is (And don’t judge me for this lol) Love Yourself by Justin Bieber.

Any weird collections?

Anything Zombie!

Strange habits?

I am kind of OCD about things so idk if it is strange but when I clean my house I can’t spray any air freshener until after all the sweeping, mopping, dusting or anything of that sort is done.

What is something you’d like the book community to know about you as a person?

I am out spoken and usually say the first thing that comes to my mind. I am sarcastic, funny, and friendly.

Blogger Interview – Bobbie Nicole from Bobbie’s Book Blog and Reviews

I am thrilled to kick off my interviews with Bobbie Nicole from Bobbie’s Book Blog and Reviews! I first met Bobbie Nicole when she was working with another blog and read and reviewed my debut novel, Our Moon. Since then, she’s become a member of my street team/reader group, Jennifer’s Chapter Chicks, and a dear friend! We have similar senses of humor and I love chatting with her about books. With no further ado, I introduce you to Bobbie Nicole!

About Bobbie Nicole the reader/blogger:

What’s the name of your blog?

Bobbie’s Book Blog and Reviews

Is it just you running it, or do you have help?

I have help! My best friend, Amanda, helps with scheduling post and reading/replying to emails and helping with reviews. I also have two other girls who help with reviewing, Tiffany and Amber.

Tell us a little about the things you post on your blog.

We post anything book related, promo posts, reviews, cover reveals, author interviews, character interviews, author spotlights. Any and everything book related!

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your blog?

If you send us a request to share or review something we will get it done! Our team of reviewers love all genres and we strive to get everything posted and live when the authors need it to be.

What’s your most favorite thing about blogging?

The books! Getting to read and learn about all the amazing books!

Least favorite?

Sometimes it can get overwhelming with all the things to get posted especially if I am having a hectic day with my kids (I have 3) or my day job and I forget to check the emails. But at the end of the day I love what I do and will continue to do it.

Favorite swag?

Bookmarks! Amanda and myself collect signed bookmarks!

Most prized book possession?

They are all prized to me. lol I love all my books!

What is the absolute best moment you’ve had as a blogger?

When I got two free tickets to go to an author signing event this September!

What is your favorite genre or sub-genre and why?

I love them all but I favor Romance. Something about love stories get me.

Have you ever read a book that completely destroyed you?

Yes! Alexa Loved By T.R Cupak! Ugh I ugly cry every time!

Have you ever not been able to finish a book? What did you do? How did it make you feel?

I have. And it made me feel horrible for the author because I know how much hard work they put into their books. When I just couldn’t finish it I was honest with the author and still pimped the crap out of them on my blog because just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean someone else won’t.

About Bobbie Nicole, the person:

I love to read (obviously lol) I have 3 kids and am happily married. I am out spoken and love what I do as a blogger.

Favorite hobby (aside from reading and blogging)?
