I got SaSSed!

It’s been about a year and a half since I’ve been to a signing as an author. I hadn’t really produced anything new, plus I was sick and broke, so the last year wasn’t really a great year to do anything. However, I’m ending 2019 with a BANG! I attended SaSS this weekend, and I’ll be attending Tempted and Tantalizing in New York City (Staten Island) and Rebels and Readers in West Virginia. I’m so excited to be back in the game.

Signings are always an adventure. They’re full of opportunities to meet new readers and authors. I always leave feeling refreshed and inspired. I want to write all the words and talk to all the people. I end up with new ideas for swag and giveaways, table designs and so-it-yourself everything. They’re that shot of life an author needs every once in a while, and I always leave happy that I came because even if I spent my profits on signed paperbacks (I heart Sawyer Bennett, maybe a little too much), I’m rich with new connections and ideas and THAT is way more valuable, in my humble opinion.

So SaSS. Tons of fun. It wasn’t too far from home, located this year in Charlotte, NC. Brad came with me and we ended up taking Barkley because he had surgery on Thursday and we didn’t feel comfortable leaving the patient for a few days so soon afterwards. He did pretty well on the trip, slept when the medication kicked in (sometimes), and didn’t cry or bark too much. Nearly everyone who encountered him pet him and loved on him, so I’d say his part of the trip was a success.

I got to connect with some readers from my group, Chapter Chicks, and they always make me smile. It was great seeing Samantha, LaChelle, Janise, and Beth. They were also the super excited recipients of some paperback ARCs of Simply Irresistible! That was something I’ve never done before and may definitely do again in the future. I also got to meet the wonderful, Karen, my personal/virtual assistant who came to me from heaven. Haha. She is seriously great and it was awesome to meet in person, even if I totally blanked on who she was at first. #chemobrain #terribleatputtingnamestofaces

I had a great time talking with fellow author Linny Lawless about stepping outside of my writing comfort zone. I have an idea I’ve been tossing around ever since and you just might see something a little darker coming from me in the future. I met Amber Lacie before my dear BFF, Natasha, and enjoyed sending pictures to torment her. My next door neighbor, Abigail Lee Justice, was a doll and shared some great travel advice. I also met Melanie Moreland who was an absolute doll! I also caught up real quick with Stephanie from Stephanie’s Book Reports. I saw and chatted with a few other authors and bloggers, and it was a great time.

Author Amy Marie and blogger Lisa Sproat (of The Literary Gossip) were wonderful hostesses. From the moment I signed up until the end of the event, they were right there, easily accessible, and working their butts off to put on a great event. Everything was coordinated so beautifully, and there were so many activities for authors and readers to participate in. One of the best events I’ve been to. Never a dull moment. I hope to have the opportunity to attend another SaSS event!

So it’s been a while since I’ve done an event recap, and I’m glad I sat down to do this one. I love looking back and re-experiencing events, and these posts help me to reminisce since my memory isn’t all that great anymore. If I missed mentioning you, I apologize. Again…the memory! I had an absolute blast and can’t wait until the next one.

xoxo,
Jennifer

I had such a great time at For Love of Books and Florida in Sarasota, Florida. As always, I come back from these events feeling refreshed and motivated. I meet readers and authors and industry pros, learn new things, and end up with book ideas. I’ve been in such a rut lately, overwhelmed with stuff, and this trip was just what I needed!

A huge thank you to Kelly, Red, Jen, Cary, and everyone else who made this event as awesome as it was. The For Love of Books and Alcohol blog/group/queens are amazing and they put together a fantastic event. I will definitely be checking out another one before I see them in Dublin, Ireland in 2019!!

Happy Halloween and #CBF2016 Recap!

Happy Halloween!

Sorry it’s been a little while since I’ve posted, I’ve been getting into a new groove over here and I’m happy to say I’m just about organized.

October 16th was Carolina Book Fest, and it was amazing! This was my third signing, and meeting readers and authors was still as exciting as the first time. I got to see some familiar faces, and some new ones, too! It’s super cool being able to put real faces to names I’ve only seen on Facebook.

Ok, and fangirl time…

I spent some time talking with Catherine Gayle and she’s just the sweetest person ever. If you like sports romance and haven’t read her Portland Storm series, start right now. Even if you don’t like sports romance, she’ll make you like it. Amazing stories, seriously. Check out her books on Amazon.

I also talked to Sawyer Bennett, who is just freaking awesome. She was actually the first author’s table I went to when I went to my very first signing as a reader, and I totally stuttered and spazzed and may have muttered something like, “I like your books. I’ve read them all.” But I’m not even sure I opened my mouth because I was star struck. Anyway, to have a conversation with her and talk books and writing…just wow. I redeemed myself to myself. And you can’t go wrong with Sawyer’s books, so check out her Amazon page and one-click any one of them. You won’t be disappointed. Ah-mazing.

My table was right beside Ariel Marie. We’ve been FB friends for a while now, but never met. So that was super cool. Our husbands also became BFFs at the event. Some serious separated at birth stuff going on there… Ha!

Hubs was a great assistant and we had a blast all weekend. I got to spend some time with Kim, one of the amazing organizers of the event. I also hung out with Jeannie, another one of my FB friends, while our husbands chatted about football. And at the Monster Mash, we met Thomas and Dominique (check out Thomas’ book here!). Great times, great people!

So, at Authors With Southern Charm in Charleston this summer, I was across the aisle from Steffy Rogers. We chatted some, but didn’t get to spend too much time together. We weren’t placed as closely at this event, but we caught up!

This is us at Roxbury, a nightclub in Charlotte. Yep, we had a Night at the Roxbury. It was a 90s themed club complete with 90s music and it was so much fun. We were there with a few other authors and readers.

Seriously, I had such an amazing time at this event! I hope I can make it next time!!

My First Signing :)

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for my very first signing as an author, coming up on June 4th in Jacksonville, Florida. I attended Sassy in Savannah back in October as a reader, and it was so much fun. I loved getting to meet authors and chatting about their books. Now, I’ll get to the on the other side of that for Sassy in Jacksonville, put on by the same organizers.

Check out this line up!

May 2016 Newsletter

I’ve got my books and swag ready, and my event banner is on its way. I can’t wait to share my experience with you all afterwards. And pictures! I’ll be taking lots of pictures!

And what else makes this experience awesome? I get to meet a reader and friend, Marissa! We met about a year ago while I was doing a takeover, I’m pretty sure it was before Our Moon was even released. Anyway, I posted one of those meme games, the “Google your name and post the first meme that comes up” one…anyway, hers was “Marissa spelled backwards is Ass I Ram.” I just died, and to this day I use that game and tag her so I can experience the humor all over again. So we’re friends, fellow book and coffee addicts, and since she also lives in the Southeast, I invited her to come along as my assistant. I can’t wait to meet her in person and see what kind of trouble we get into. 😉

Want to come to Jacksonville? I’d love to see you there! Here are the details:
